Sierra High product Troy Morrow recently capped an historic season for the Modesto Junior College baseball team.
He’s the first Pirate to be named Big 8 Conference MVP while adding Freshman of the Year and Gold Glove honors to the resume.
Last week, the American Baseball Coaches Association and Rawlings Sporting Goods announced that 6-foot-4, 210-pound outfielder was among the standouts named to the Pacific Association Division All-America First Team. The Pacific Association Division is made up of junior colleges in California, Oregon and Washington.
Morrow helped lead MJC (17-7, 33-13 overall) to its first Big 8 championship, California Community College Athletic Association Super Regional appearance and No. 10 final state ranking, according to the California Community College Baseball Coaches Association. The Pirates ranked as high as sixth during the season.
Morrow produced across the board, batting .382 with a .481 on-base percentage and .647 slugging percentage. He scored 43 runs, drove in 50 and stole 17 bases. Additionally, 25 of his 66 hits went for extra bases — 10 doubles, nine triples and six home runs.
Morrow graduated from Sierra in 2025, when he was tabbed Offensive Player of the Year in the Valley Oak League.
