East Union, Lathrop each score victories

Krys Charles threw for two Manteca touchdowns and caught another Friday night as the Buffaloes withstood a second-half rally by Oakdale for a 30-27 Valley Oak League junior varsity win for the Buffaloes at Guss Schmidt Field. 

 Charles (5 of 7 passing, 103 yards) had a touchdown throw of 52 yards to Kai Begonia and an 18-yard scoring pass to Javier Flores. Charles pulled in a 68-yard halfback pass from Flores. Calvin Ramsey started the Manteca scoring with a 73-yard touchdown scamper and Aidan Nicholas had eight carries for 43 yards. Alejandro Tornero added two receptions for 23 yards.

 The Buffaloes scored all of their points in the first half. 

 Calvin Ramsey and Richie Garcia each made seven tackles for Manteca and David Vega added six.

 

East Union 10, Central Catholic 7

 MODESTO – Christian Perez booted a 21-yard field in the third quarter for the Lancers to break a 7-7 tie.

 Zelmar Vedder got East Union’s lone touchdown on a 65-yard run and Lane Cefalu added 61 yards on 15carries.

 Jonathan Castenada paced the Lancers defense with 10 tackles followed by Cefalu with nine and Carlos Alveraz with seven. 

Non-league

Weston Ranch 35, 

Lathrop 0

 Rogelio Ruvalcava was on target for the Cougars in a renewal of the Battle of I-5, throwing five touchdown passes.

 Ruvalcava (9 of 14 passing, 257 yards; seven carries, 73 yards rushing) had three touchdown passes to Aaron Jaimes (six catches, 175 yards) and Fidel Pitts (3 three catches, 82 yards) pulled in two touchdown catches. 

 Nacho Gonzalez and Ricky Sanchez were standouts on defense for Weston Ranch.
