Manteca JV surges past Kimball in 2nd half

After trailing by a point at halftime, Manteca exploded for 36 second-half points on the way to a 42-14 thumping of Kimball in Valley Oak League football action.

Quinn Martinez racked up 193 all-purpose yards for the Buffaloes, gaining 95 yards on 13 carries with touchdown runs of 4 and 39 yards and two punt returns for 98 yards. Preston Smith was 4 of 8 passing for 123 yards with touchdown throws of 50 yards to Julian Moncada and 59 yards to Anthony Garcia. Moncada added a 10-yard touchdown run. 

Nikolas Ellks had the highlight of the night for the Manteca defense when he returned a fumble 65 yards for a touchdown. Luis Rosas made seven tackles for the Buffaloes, Ruben Moreno forced two fumbles and Noah Alejandro Pineda made an interception.

 

Freshman

Oakdale 28, Sierra 15

The Mustangs put up 20 points in the second quarter and the Timberwolves could not recover.

Ryan Reyes (20 carries, 67 yards; 6 of 12 passing, 43 yards) gave Sierra a 7-0 first quarter lead on a 17-yard touchdown run. Reyes scored again in the fourth quarter on a 7-yard scoring run. Jacob Paris made three catches for 25 yards.

A.J. Chapman led the Timberwolves with seven tackles. Jacob Paris (fumble recovery) added four stops, with three each for Jayson Arnoldus (fumble recovery), Lorenzo Jones, Reyes and Julian Ruiz. John Thomson and Koa Rodrigues also contributed to the Sierra defense.

 

East Union 32, Lathrop 16

Kirk Simoni threw for nearly 200 yards to direct the potent Lancers offense in non-league action.

Simoni completed 13 of 16 passes for 175 yards. Chris Gallego scored on a 6-yard run and Jeremy A’pe (11 carries, 92 yards) posted a 4-yard touchdown run. Gallego and Brayden Camara each added a fourth-quarter touchdown.

Camara made three receptions for 69 yards. Jackson Fay had 49 yards on four catches and Anthony Oteir made three catches for 45 yards.

Robert Gaston paced the Lancers defense with nine tackles. Chris Gallego and Camara (forced fumble) added six stops apiece and Anthony Oteri (interception) made three tackles. Tony Garza chipped in an interception.

Treydon Santos (nine carries, 107 yards) and Pablo Pena (11 carries, 95 yards) each scored a touchdown for the Spartans.

Lathrop’s Eric Lucatero made five tackles and forced two fumbles. Daniel Tachiquin (two passes broken up) and Pablo Pena (forced fumble) added three stops apiece.
