LATHROP — Johansen had three scoring plays of 45 yards or longer Thursday on the way to a 24-6 win over host Lathrop in Western Athletic Conference junior varsity win at Bennie Gatto Field.

The Spartans tied the game at 6-6 in the third quarter on a 45-yard scoring run by Ryan Buccat (five carries, 69 yards) only for a pair of turnovers to lead to 12 of18 consecutive Vikings points.

Teagan Shevlin, David Villavicencio, Adrian Zuniga, Ramon Rivas and Julio Garcia all contributed on offense for Lathrop.

Casyn Hopping led the Spartans defense with five tackles followed by Bucant and Zuniga with three apiece. Adrian Padilla and Nathan Martinez each recovered a fumble.

 

Manteca 16, Central Catholic 7

Trailing 7-0 at halftime, the Buffaloes tallied a pair of second-half touchdowns while keeping the Raiders off the board after the first half for the Valley Oak League win.

Both the Manteca scores came from a yard out with Marco Ramos getting the first one in the third quarter and Landon Chamberlain adding the second in the fourth period.  

K.P. MacDannald was the workhorse for the Buffaloes with 26 carries for 100 yards and both two-point conversions. Luis Rivera-Cruz picked up 52 yards on just two carries.

Isaiah White (forced fumble) and Daniel Bernal each had nine tackles for Manteca. Tristan Rio (tipped pass), MacDannald and Joshua Puetz tallied five tackles apiece and Luis Rivera-Cruz (fumble recovery) had three stops.

 

Ripon Christian 21, Lincoln 20

After two third-quarter touchdowns from Isaiah Vander Woude that gave the Knights the lead for good over the visiting freshmen Trojans from Stockton, Josh Miller snagged a 10-yard pass from Jace Beidleman to convert a fourth down with 30 seconds left in the game to secure the non-league win for Ripon Christian.

Vander Woude pulled in a 41-yard scoring pass from Beidleman (8 of 15 passing, 86 yards) with 5:50 left in the third period and five minutes later he added a 10-yard scoring run for a 21-12 Ripon Christian lead. Lincoln added a fourth-quarter touchdown.

Beidleman found Logan DeJong with an 8-yard scoring pass early in the second quarter for a 7-0 lead.

Luke Crivello, Aiden Silva and Owen Greenlee also contributed to the Knights offense.

Greenlee made seven tackles for Ripon Christian with four apiece for Trevor Van Elderen (interception), Miller and David Koolhaas. E.J. Bruno recovered a fumble.

 

Freshman

Weston Ranch 23, East Union 20

Joshua Mellion and D.J. Lewis Jr. stuffed the Lancers on the last play of the game inside the East Union 3-yard line to secure the VOL win for the Cougars.

The consistent duo of Anthony Morales (9 of 12 passing, 188 yards) and Blake Mount (six receptions, 161 yards) combined for a pair of Lancers touchdowns with Morales hitting mount on touchdown throws of 30 and 62 yards. Izik Quezada added a 6-yard scoring run. Izik Quezada added 101 yards on 15 carries with Ralphie Cabrera, Ryan Guibor, Robby Espinosa, Cesar Salinas and Julian Perez also contributed on offense.

Cesar Salinas (forced fumble) and Isaac Alvarez made four tackles apiece for East Union with Mount, Julian Perez and Greg Orr making three stops apiece and Keenan Yang added an interception.

 

Sierra 48, Kimball 12  

Eight different Timberwolves scored a rushing touchdown.

Victor Yamamoto (nine carries, 97 yards) scored on a 12-yard run, Brock Felt (seven carries, 36 yards) added a 9-yard scoring run, Zak Willson (4 of 7 passing, 66 yards) snuck it in from the 1-yard line, Taylor Rowe had a 5-yard touchdown run, Cameron Diego scored from 12 yards out and Andre Bonvillian tallied an 8-yard scoring run. Mario Juarez added 40 yards on five carries.

The Jaguars were held to 75 yards of offense while turning the ball over seven times. Juarez (nine tackles) recovered two fumbles, Victor Yamamoto (seven tackles) forced two fumbles and recovered one, Isaiah Lynch (six tackles) recovered a fumble, Taylor Rowe made an interception and Alfredo Cano recovered fumble.

Brock Felt added six tackles with Cameron Diego, Jonathan Lawas and Tim Sargeson notching five stops apiece and Jake Cronin and Manual Castaneda four apiece. Taylor Rowe, Izreal San Nichols, Ricardo Anaya, Manuel Alvarez, Amandeep Dapp and Christian Rosales all contributed to the stifling Timberwolves defensive attack.
