The Weston Ranch Cougars have not missed a beat since their midseason loss to Manteca High, bringing home another Valley Oak League win with an 8-1 defeat of Sierra Tuesday.
The Cougars took advantage of a short-staffed Sierra team, winning on all fronts except for the No. 1 singles. Weston Ranch got wins from Sukhman Singh (6-1, 6-1), Kevin Yamayoshi (6-0, 6-0), Serbinder Singh (6-0, 6-1), Adrian Andrade (6-1, 6-0) and Raymond Lago (6-0, 6-3).
Doubles were a clean sweep for the Cougars, with Ajay Bainiwal and Mark Legaspi teaming up for the day’s most exciting match, fending off Sierra’s Jonnel Alcantara and Eric Ng 4-6, 6-1 (10-7).
Sierra’s No. 1 singles Forrest Tolman improved to 10-1 on the season, handling Weston Ranch’s top seed 6-1, 6-1.
“We had a good match from Forrest,” Sierra head coach Vanessa Weeks said. “Considering we were missing two of our top five players, we competed well.”
