Johntae Maggard ran for two touchdowns Friday to lead East Union to a 27-0 blanking of visiting Sierra in Valley Oak League junior varsity action at Dino Cunial Field. 

Maggard (13 carries, 111 yards) scored on runs of 8 and 40 yards. Luke Weaver (3 of 8 passing, 144 yards) hit Adam Tinnerello with a 77-yard touchdown pass and Marcus Brennan added a 6-yard scoring run. 

Bryan Howe (fumble recovery) and Payton Graham made seven tackles apiece for the Lancers. Zane Salgado added six stops with Kai Ontai and Gannon Anderson each grabbing an interception. 

Victor Serna tallied 12 carries for 70 yards for the Timberwolves. Sierra’s Spencer Kim made eight tackles and Wheeler seven with Mathias Curry making two sacks and Nikko Nunez one. 


Manteca 56, 

Weston Ranch 0

The Buffaloes were the epitome of efficiency, scoring on six of the 20 plays they ran and earning a running clock in the second quarter at Guss Schmiedt Field. 

Khalid Robinson touched the ball just twice for Manteca and scored both times on 19 and 23 yards. Jonathan Rosas found Andrew Maki with a 10-yard touchdown pass, Jesse Lopez (six carries, 61 yards) scored on a 5-yard run, Dominic Alvarez had a 20-yard touchdown run and 

Joshua Marlin chipped in a 3-yard scoring run. 

Andrew Botell made two fumble recoveries and two tackles for the Buffaloes. Kenyan Bradford made an interception, Zach Todd forced a fumble and Cole Ramsey made three tackles. 


Escalon 35, Ripon 0 

RIPON – The Cougars scored in every quarter of the Trans-Valley League road win at Stouffer Field.

Ethan Day picked up 43 yards on 10 carries for the Indians. 

Freshman 

East Union 46, Sierra 24

Back-to-back kickoff returns late in the fourth quarter gave both sides something to cheer about at Daniel Teicheira Memorial Stadium. 

First, the Lancers’ Anthony Sy returned one 63 yards to give East Union a 46-18 lead with 1:18 left in the game. Ian Metcalf scooted 80 yards on the ensuing kickoff to make the score 46-24. 

East Union’s David Flores (eight carries, 99 yards) scored on runs of 13 and 58 yards. Ace Avelar scored on a 15-yard run and a 8-yard pass from Ashton Heath (2 for 3 passing, 50 yards) and Dylan Lee (2 for 7 passing, 58 yards) ran for a 3-yard touchdown and hit Sy with a 24-yard touchdown pass. Emilio Perez Jr. added 52 yards on 10 carries. 

Tyler Looney (five carries, 42 yards; 8 for 18 passing, 67 yards, interception) scored for Sierra when he recovered a fumble in the end zone, ran one in from 3 yards out and hit Evyn White with an 11-yard scoring pass.  

David Flores led the Lancers defense with 10 tackles. Perez Jr. and Matthew Mejia added eight stops apiece; Angel Ramirez seven; Renald Bacigalupi (interception) and Rafael Espinosa six each; David Juarez and Gabe New four apiece; Ryan Serrano, Seth Baker and Lee three each and two apiece for Nickolas Luna, Noel Herrera, Abel Cha, Andrew Soto and Elijah Ware.
