GIRLS HOOPS: Weston Ranch rolls past Modesto with 21-0 barrage

MODESTO — Slowed by early foul trouble, Jennalyn Laminero and Weston Ranch delivered the knockout blow in the third quarter of their 50-13 drubbing of Modesto on Tuesday.
Laminero scored all 11 of her points in the period, anchoring a 21-0 run that helped the Cougars (2-0) expand on their 15-8 halftime lead.
She was one of 10 Weston Ranch players to score. Kaila Comerie contributed nine points, hitting three 3s. Lea’zae Smith added seven points.
Weston Ranch opens the Tony Contreras Delta Queens Classic against tourney host Stagg on Thursday night starting at 8.

Laguna Creek 55, Manteca 45
The visiting Cardinals (5-1) of Elk Grove escaped with the win after outscoring Manteca 15-9 in the fourth quarter. Laguna Creek’s Cody Norman returned to Winter Gym, where he previously coached the Buffaloes.
Kyaira Jacobs paced the Buffs with 13 points, Jaslyn Woods added nine points and six rebounds and Paige Peterson collected five points and 12 boards.

East Union 60, Tracy 20
TRACY — Sisters Ala and Lani Tu’uga tallied 21 and 20 points, respectively, for the Lancers (6-1).
East Union opened up a 20-5 lead. Lauren Pablo contributed with nine points. The Lancers have a tough stretch coming up with Livingston and Merced on slate early next week.
Until then, the program will hosts its 20th annual Camelot Classic tournament for lower levels starting Thursday.

Gregori 37, Lathrop 31
Lathrop mustered just two points in the opening quarter and fell behind 19-10 by halftime.
Kierstin Constantino helped get the Spartans (1-4) back into it, hitting two 3s in the second half and finishing with 14 points. Sanah Singh chipped in seven points.
Visiting Gregori (1-5), notching its first win of the season, was paced by Emma Braley’s 14 points.
The Spartans will look to earn their third straight title in the Delta Queens Classic this week. They’ll start with McNair at 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
