Tyler Griggs and East Union led local competitors Wednesday in the third of five Valley Oak League tournaments.
Griggs took fourth place at 4-over 76 at Manteca Park Golf Course. As a team, East Union turned in its best 18-hole score of the season with a 468, good for a third straight runner-up finish in league.
Oakdale continued to flex its dominance in the VOL, winning with a 390 behind low medalist Ryan Meyer’s 68. The Mustangs had the top three individuals, as Tristan Jaramillo checked in with a 74 and Ryan Wheatley a 75.
Rounding out the team standings for the day: Central Catholic placed third with a 477 followed by Sierra (539), Kimball (558), Weston Ranch (616) and Manteca (767).
Joining the UCLA-bound Griggs on the East Union scoring list are Lucas Couch (94), Dawson Mix (98), Brandon Ugalino (99) and Nathaniel Saucedo (101).
Sierra scorers were Damian Simon (100), Derrick Kuwada (103), Tristan Gonzales (111), Michael Erdman (112) and Jose Munoz (113).
VOL Tournament No. 4 is scheduled for April 8 with Central Catholic hosting in Modesto. The VOL Championships take place April 29 at Brookside Golf & Country Club in Stockton.
