Lathrop staves off Beyer thanks to Silvas hat trick

Hairo Silva recorded his second hat trick of the season, and Lathrop needed every single one of those goals to top host Beyer of Modesto 4-3 on Monday.

Silva is among the area’s top goal scorers with nine. He previously poured in three in Friday’s 3-1 victory over Hughson in the Gregori Tournament. 

Beyer (0-4-2) battled back from a 2-0 halftime deficit and did all of its scoring in the second half. Silva also assisted Sergio Carrillo’s goal. Freshman Christian Cardenas contributed a pair of assists for Lathrop (5-3-1).  Goalie Roni Hafed collected nine saves.

 

Sierra 1, West 1

Freshman striker Kevin Mendiola accounted for Sierra’s goal. The Timberwolves (1-5-1) head to Galt on Wednesday to encounter the defending Sac-Joaquin Section Division V champion.

Lathrop 4, Beyer 2

Alexis Palomares struck for three goals, and Angel Vargas added one in the Spartans’ victory.

 

VOLLEYBALL

Lincoln 3, Weston Ranch 0

The Cougars (1-1) were outmatched by an undefeated Division-I powerhouse. Game scores were: 17-25, 15-25, 11-25.

Victoria Gulley led Weston Ranch with five kills, Jazelle Perena had five assists and Iris Murphy turned in four digs.

The Weston Ranch sophomore squad was swept (9-25, 10-25), while the freshmen improved to 2-0 with their two-game triumph (25-11, 25-17).
