Marissa Navarro recently wrapped up her career at Sacramento State with her best season, and she was rewarded for this past week.
The senior catcher and Manteca native was first named to the Pacific Coast Softball Conference’s all-Coastal Division second team on May 12. It’s her second all-conference award after earning honorable mention in 2010.
On Thursday, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association named Navarro to the Division I all-Pacific Region team. She is the 10th Sacramento State player to receive all-region honors.
The Pacific Region includes teams from the Pac-12, Western Athletic Conference, Big West, Mountain West and PCSC. The other NFCA regions are: Central, Great Lakes, Mid-Atlantic, Mideast, Midwest, Northeast, South, Southeast and West.
Navarro, who graduated from Manteca High in 2008, started all 46 of Sac State’s games in 2012, including 44 behind the plate.
For the season, she batted .349 with a .415 on-base percentage, .582 slugging percentage, eight homers and 42 RBIs.
Navarro pieced together a 12-game hitting streak, which is the sixth longest in Sac State’s Division-I history. She also leaves the program as its No. 4 career home run hitter with 15.
The Hornets finished 10-9 in the PCSC and 27-19 overall.
