The Ripon High and Ripon Christian girls golf teams will be represented in next week’s Sac-Joaquin Section Division V Tournament.
Ripon placed third in the Valley Foothill League North Division Tournament Monday at Greenhorn Creek Resort & Golf Club, but RC had enough of a lead during the regular season to secure the third postseason team berth.
Bret Harte, paced by medalist and conference MVP Emaline Ellsworth, scored a 423 to earn the VFL — North title, and runner-up Escalon checked in with 441. Ripon turned in a 493, and RC finished with a 513. Riverbank (523), Calaveras (552) and Linden (530) rounded out the field.
The top three teams and six individuals not on qualifying teams advance to divisionals.
Ellsworth, with a 13-over-par 85, led all individuals with the lone sub-100 score. Ripon’s Sienna Starck placed second with a 100, and Melissa Spence of Bret Harte was third with a 101. Starck is the No. 3 overall points finisher behind Ellsworth and Escalon’s Parker Pilati. Ripon Christian’s Jenny Wickham, who carded a 110, was also among the top-10 point-getters to earn all-league honors.
In the VFL, four all-league members qualify for divisionals along with two top tournament placers. Ripon’s Hailey Rae Rose (120) and Erin Wever (123) earned the at-large bids. Brittany Amezcua accounts for the rest of the Indians’ team score.
Contributing for RC were Vanessa Vallo (121), Kaitlyn Groshong (141) and Stacie Daretta (141).
The SJS Division V Tournament takes place next Monday, Oct. 22 back at Greenhorn Creek.
