RIVERBANK – The Ripon Christian soccer program saw a season’s worth of dedication pay off in a major way Wednesday when the Knights outlasted the Riverbank Bruins for a 1-0 Trans Valley League win.
Ashlet Roberts made good on a second-half goal and goalie Beth Van Vliet turned away four shots for the shutout victory.
“We were happy to come away with a win today,” Ripon Christian head coach Travis Haveman said. “After a first half tie the wind forced us to improve our game.
“Offensively, we were the most active we have been all season.”
Ripon Christian (3-9-2 TVL, 9-9-3 overall) finds itself locked in a fourth place tie heading into the season finale Monday against Modesto Christian.
“If we can get a tie there,” Haveman said. “We have a chance to finish as a .500 team over all.
“We are really excited to see that kind of improvement.”
The Knights will meet up with Modesto Christian at 4 p.m.
