Different league, same results for Ripon Christian’s boys volleyball team.

The Knights (12-0, 27-10 overall) went undefeated in their first season back in the Trans Valley League and went on to win the Sac-Joaquin Section Division III title. They finished a combined 22-0 in the Southern Athletic League the past three years and are 50-0 all-time in league matches.

After earning MVP honors in the Southern League, Ripon Christian junior Mason Tameling repeated the feat in the TVL. The 6-foot-2 outside hitter has also been named the SJS Small School Player of the Year. His father, Kevin, was named TVL Coach of the Year and SJS Co-Coach of the Year.

The Most Outstanding Player award was shared by members of the co-runners-up. Sophomore Drake Krippene of Ripon (9-3, 24-10) splits it with Luke Dorn of Big Valley Christian (9-3, 29-9).

Mason Tameling ranked among the most prolific offensive players in the state. In TVL play, he amassed 165 kills, 4.5 per set, and 39 service aces. He was also second on his team with 88 digs, while contributing 10 blocks and 19 assists.

Ripon Christian has four players on the All-TVL first team, and two others earned honorable mention.

Senior opposite hitter Isaiah Vander Woude had his most productive season, racking up 99 kills, 18 aces, 29 blocks and 54 digs in league. Junior Daniel Lambdin (330 assists, 74 digs, 14 blocks, 10 aces) made all-league despite a position change, moving from outside hitter to setter.

Junior middle Darren Van Groningen (69 kills, 14 aces, 25 blocks) and sophomore libero Ian Brown (94 digs, 20 aces) round out RC’s all-league selections. Junior outside hitter Reagan Sauer and freshman middle Grant Wentworth received honorable mention.

The 6-3 Krippene enjoyed a breakout sophomore campaign for Ripon, which sorely needed it with its most productive returning outside hitter, Alex Alvarellos, limited by a knee injury. Krippene collected 179 kills against TVL opponents to go with 39 aces, 11 blocks, 52 digs and 58 aces.

Also voted to the all-league team were 6-8 middle Trent Olmo (71 kills and 27 blocks) and senior libero Leonardo Barrera (70 digs). Juniors Armando Ayon and Cade Fullmer made honorable mention.
