MODESTO — The Ripon boys water polo team went 2-3 in the DeLong Tournament held at Enochs High last Friday and Saturday.
Noah Esenwein led the Indians with 19 goals to go with eight assists and 12 assists. He accounted for six of Ripon’s points and even played goalie (two saves) in the final two minutes to preserve a 9-8 win over Sanger. Ripon opened tournament play with a 12-10 loss to Bella Vista and defeated Buhach Colony 11-7 on its final game on Friday.
Ty Wells added 17 goals, nine assists and 18 steals. Nick Gagnon had 10 goals, four assists and three steals, but missed Ripon’s two Saturday games to take his ACT test. The Indians lost to both Gregori and Foothill 13-9 Saturday.
Diego Moreno contributed a goal, five assists and six steals. Lucas Esenwein had a goal. Matthew De La O racked up 24 blocks for the tournament.
Ripon wraps up Valley Oak League play tonight at Kimball.
