Ripon Christian awarded five spots on All-SL team

Ripon Christian’s girls soccer team had five players named to the All-Southern League team, while three Lady Indians from Ripon High earned All-Trans Valley League honors.

Both squads were a win away from returning to the Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs.

Ripon Christian (8-4-2, 12-7-3 overall) finished in a third-place tie with Gustine but lost the head-to-head tiebreaker. Lady Knights selected to the All-SL first team were Kaylie Colyn, Natalie Van Groningen and Ashley Bloemhof. Rachel Kinser and Adrianna Van Groningen earned honorable mention.

The Van Groningens were RC’s leading scorers, with Natalie, a senior, recording 25 points with nine goals and 10 assists. Adrianna, a sophomore, netted 10 goals and assisted 10 others.

Colyn contributed five goals and two assists, Bloemhof had four goals and one assist and Kinser five goals and three assists.

Dave Hill and Callum Lester of league champion Waterford were Co-Coaches of the Year, and Mariposa’s Katie Montgomery was voted Most Valuable Player.

Rose Beeler, Katherine Ratto and Ivone Serrano represent Ripon (4-4-2) on the all-TVL team.

Major awards went to Escalon’s Taylor Morrow (MVP), Hilmar’s Jaimee Rocha (Offensive Player of the Year), Hughson’s Janet Rivera and Escalon’s Haylee Cook (Co-Defensive Players of the Year). Jamie Peoples is Coach of the Year after leading Escalon to second-place finish behind Hilmar.
