OAKDALE — Make it 45 straight Valley Oak League wins for the Manteca girls tennis team.
And three straight VOL titles.
The Buffaloes clinched at least a share of the championship Tuesday with their 9-0 shutout of Oakdale. Now 15-0 overall, they’ll look to complete a perfect run through the regular season Thursday at second-place Central Catholic. The match will start at 2 p.m.
“It’s a pleasant surprise and true testament of the hard work and determination of this group of girls,” Manteca coach MaryAnn Tolbert said.
The dominant effort started at the top of the ladder, where senior Julia Tang blanked Tayla Barry, 6-0, 6-0. No. 2 Sahiba Kaur held off Kendra Branch 6-3, 6-4 in the most competitive match.
Ellie Kim (6-2, 6-2), Makenna Condit (6-4, 6-0), Navinna Mann (6-0, 6-1) and Kerren Zou (6-0, 6-1) also took care of business in singles action. The doubles matches were won by Noeli Mercado/Melissa Poncini (6-3, 6-2), Yanki Ma/Kalissa Martin (6-4, 6-1) and Isabella Huerta/Danielle Diaz (6-0, 6-1).

Sierra 5, Kimball 4
The Timberwolves (6-5) claimed five of the six singles matches, and it was enough to get an important win that keeps them in contention for the third and final available Sac-Joaquin Section playoff berth in the VOL.
Sierra and Kimball are tied for third place, and a coinflip will decide which team advances.
Nadia Petrovic came through with a needed point at No. 2 singles, as she defeated Hana Lucen, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2. Sierra’s other wins came from No. 1 Kaitlin Rausa (6-2, 6-2), Joyce Sebastian (6-1, 6-4), Jasmine Sebastian (7-6, 6-0) and Lillian Vang (7-6, 6-4).

Central Catholic 9, East Union 0
East Union struggled to keep up with the VOL’s second-place squad.
Sarah Gloeckler threatened to take the No. 3 match to a third set but fell short 1-6, 4-6 against Isaballa Naraghi. The No. 1 doubles team of Chloe Agueda and Mena Guevara dropped a 4-6, 1-6 decision to Aimee Baraza and Jenna Nightengale.

Lathrop 6, Grace Davis 3
Lathrop (3-6) completed a season sweep of Grace Davis in Western Athletic Conference action on Monday.
Darlene Hoang (6-1, 6-3), Bernice Vilches (6-1, 6-3), Harman Garcha (6-0, 6-2) and Kim Bareng (6-4, 6-2) won their singles matches. Amanda Fernandez and Jocelyn Lat narrowly won at No. 1 doubles, 4-6, 7-6(5), 10-8). The No. 3 doubles team also won, 7-5, 7-5.

VOLLEYBALL
Lathrop 3, Johansen 0
LATHROP — The Spartans (11-1, 14-4) made quick work of Johansen 25-8, 25-21, 25-11 in their quest for the WAC championship. Only two matches remain, with a trip to Los Banos up next on Thursday.
Jahsita Fa’alii led the attack with 12 kills and six aces to go with eight digs. Avleen Kaur (three aces) and Jordan Corner added five kills apiece. Karina Chavez contributed 21 assists, and Krystal Tempra picked up 13 digs.

GOLF
Valley Oak League
OAKDALE — Madison Blanc shot 4-under 68 at Oakdale Golf & Country Club, leading Oakdale to an impressive 399 score in the fourth VOL Tournament on Monday. The finale is set for Oct. 15 at Manteca Golf Course.
The first-place Mustangs set a team record, while Blanc established a program low with her sterling effort. She was backed by Taylor Stewart (80), Andrea York (83), Tori Blank (84) and Makayla Christiansen (84).
Kimball placed second with a 492 and was led by Kayla Naldo’s 86. Central Catholic took third with a 572.
Manteca’s Bella Gonzales was the top local finisher with a 102. The Buffaloes did not field a full squad. Mohgren Kissee (114) and Bianca Anaya (123) were their other participants. Weston Ranch also competed and got 134 scores from Deena Faruqi and Ashley Castaneda.

JV volleyball
Lathrop 2, Johansen 0
LATHROP — The Spartans (12-0, 16-3) secured the outright WAC crown with their 25-8, 25-10 victory.
Sydney Hanks and Ke’mya Barnett delivered six and five kills, respectively. Desiree Ambatali recorded 13 digs and four aces. Anahy Serrano dished out 16 assists.

Frosh volleyball
Lathrop 2, Johansen 0
LATHROP — As a team, Lathrop (6-4, 7-8) amassed 19 aces and swept Johansen, 25-8, 25-23.
Lylliana Avila served four aces and rapped four kills. Layla Pereira-Watson also had four aces, and Arianna Bringas chipped in a pair of aces along with five assists.
