With the top junior golfer in the country in the field, Ripon’s girls golf team placed second at Hilmar’s annual Yellowjacket Invitational on Monday at Turlock Golf & Country Club.

Cameron Seefeldt placed fifth individually with a 9-over 81 to pace Ripon, which totaled a 391 team score. Oakdale took the team title with a 355, and Gregori finished three strokes shy of Ripon.

Seefeldt got to play with individual medalist Asterisk Talley of Chowchilla, who dominated en route to the individual championship with a 45-under 67. Ranked No. 2 globally, Talley was the only player to finish in the red.

Hilmar sophomore Isabella Northcutt was the runner-up with a 77, and Tracy freshman Zara Maryam Shalizi took third with a 79.

Brynn Daley contributed a 12th-place score of 92 for Ripon. Cailyn Young added a 106, and Eve Toledo a 112.

FLAG FOOTBALL

Lathrop 25, Beyer 0

Avaihna Calderon completed three touchdown passes in Modesto, finishing 16 of 20 for 171 yards for the Western Athletic Conference leading Spartans (7-0, 12-2 overall).

Tianna Gonzalez (three receptions, 23 yards) was on the receiving end of two of those touchdowns. Ja’Leiyah Ray caught one touchdown, finishing with four receptions for 57 yards. Faith Allen paced the ground attack with four rushes for 57 yards.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Mountain House 3, River Islands 1

The Riptide (6-11) dropped a competitive non-league match on the road, 24-26, 21-25, 25-23, 23-25.

Leighann Ruiz and Ada Morales powered the attack with 23 and 16 kills, respectively. Corley Simoni handed out 25 assists.

Lathrop 19, Beyer 7

Beyer had no answer for Vanescia Rodriguez, who rushed for 166 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries.

Ryleigh Race led the defense with three flag pulls and three pass deflections.

Frosh girls volleyball

East Union 2, Central Catholic 0

The Lancers swept, 25-8, 25-19.

Jordyn Ballou led them with four kills, six service points and three aces. Genesis Harris also rapped four kills. Elianna Lucero anchored the defense with five digs. Brooklyn Fideldy dished out eight assists.
