The postseason unofficially kicks off tonight at Sierra High’s Daniel Teicheira Memorial Stadium.

That is where the Timberwolves will lock up with Oakdale for the last of three Sac-Joaquin Section Division IV playoff berths allotted to the Valley Oak League.

Both teams did their parts by winning their matches on Wednesday.

Sierra coasted past Weston Ranch on the road 11-1, while Oakdale survived a near-upset in its 1-0 win over visiting Sonora.

“To-night was one of those games where we were able to get everyone some playing time,” Sierra coach Manuel Pires said. “The team did really well even with our subs in the game, and now we can focus on beating Oakdale (tonight).”

Naomi Nunis led the barrage with a hat trick. She also dished out two assists.

Ashley Sohal and Lindsey Williams buried two goals apiece, while Jessica Cuenca scored once and assisted three. Tiffany Quezada and Asia Cortez each contributed a goal and an assist, Daisy Rivera scored once and Kelsey Wells chipped in with an assist.

Weston Ranch scored its long goal on a penalty kick in the second half.
