RIPON — The boys singles showdown between Landon Tillema against Chris Kem had little effect on the team outcome, but it was the most tightly-contested match when Ripon Christian visited neighboring Ripon for a Trans Valley League meeting Friday.
Tillema produced a hard-earned point for RC, which improved to 2-1. He and Kem split their first two sets, 6-4, 6-7, and Tillema prevailed in the tiebreaker, 11-9.
Most of the other eight matches were won by one-sided margins.
Matt Mendonca accounted for half of Ripon’s point total with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep of RC’s Jacob Meeuwse in the No. 2 boys singles match.
Girls singles belonged to RC, with Katie den Dulk (6-2, 6-1 over Elissa Hollingsworth) and Amanda Thatcher (6-0, 6-1 over Erika Alhambra) coasting to victories.
The boys doubles matches were won by RC’s No. 1 pair of Josiah Neeley and Nick Wehrli (10-6) and No. 2 Dan McGill and Brad Kamper (10-4).
In girls doubles, No. 1 Colleen Kamper and Haley Veilleux (10-0) and Lauren Hogan and Carly Ross (10-4) contributed wins for the Knights.
Ripon’s mixed-doubles pair of Jared Ratto and Linda Alahni won, 10-5.
