TRACK AND FIELD: Cougars’ Arevalo wins 1600 meters at Delta Invitational

STOCKTON – Weston Ranch’s Brian Arevalo won the 1600 meters Saturday and finished fourth in the 3200 in the Delta College Invitational at Stagg High School.

Arevalo notched a 4:29.00 in the 1600 and a 9:58.72 in the 3200.

Lathrop’s Jaime Abida finished third in the pole vault (9 feet, 6 inches) and fifth in the 110 hurdles (17.45). Finishing fourth from Lathrop was Isaac Ramos in the long jump (20-5) and the Weston Ranch 4x100 relay team of Paul Laurent, Fletcher Pitts, Andrew Williams and Jeremiah Richardson (45.13) finished fifth.

In girls competition, Lathrop’s Erielle De La Cruz was second in the high jump (4-8) and triple jump (33-9 1/2) while teammate Maria Soto was second in the 3200 (12:10.09) and third in the 1600 (5:35.33). The Spartans girls finished fourth.

The Spartans 4x400 relay team of LaNicia Ellis, Sofia Rivera, Ashley Gaspar, Delaina Robinson (4:28.89) finished third. Gaspar was fourth in the 100 (12.82) along with the Lathrop 4x100 relay of Ellis, Ashley Gaspar, Isis Siga and Alessandra Giordano (52.64).

Manteca’s Jayda Jackson was fourth in the high jump (4-8).

Lathrop’s Ibukunoluwa Ladunni won the boys frosh/soph triple jump (39-8).
