Twolves edge Buffaloes

In a close Valley Oak League matchup, the Sierra Timberwolves used a medalist-honors earning round from Lexus Barnes to push past the Manteca Buffaloes 275-289 Tuesday at the Manteca Golf Course.

Barnes answered the call in the VOL meeting with a 46, posting the day’s best round by seven-strokes. Teammate Elia Vazquez followed her with a 54, while Vanessa Rodriguez (56), Melanie Kiesel (59) and McKenna Doyle (60) rounded out the Sierra scorecard.

Manteca was led by both Kaylee Grimes and Caitlyn Lepper’s rounds of 53. Katie Hawkins turned in a 59 for the Buffaloes and Nicole Brown a 64. Brooke Majorado turned in an uncharacteristic round of 60 for Manteca.

Valley Foothill League

Ripon Christian 222, Linden 272

Ripon Christian took down Linden on the challenging Lockford Springs par-36 front nine, handling the Lions by 50-strokes Tuesday in league play.

Jenny Wickham led the way with an 8-over-par 44. Vanessa Vallo and Kaitlyn Groshong followed her with a 56 and 60, respectively. Robyn Reyes (62), Lauren Hogan (66) and Stacie Darretta (670 rounded out the Ripon Christian scorecard.
