SAN JOSE – It might be early, but things are looking good for the Sierra High School wrestling program.

The Timberwolves took first place Saturday at the Lynn Dyche Invitational at James Lick High School in San Jose – watching two wrestlers win their respective weight classes while another finished second and two took third.

Aidon Foster (160) and Alex Nuanez (189) both won their individual weight classes during Saturday’s action. Nuanez was also named the upper weight division outstanding wrestler.

Lucas Maestas (HWT) finished second, while freshman Alberto Loaiza (103) and Ray Widmer (215) finished third.

“Right now I only see us getting better,” Sierra head coach Bob Blanco said. “We had three or four guys that just joined team a couple of weeks ago after football season ended. We’re looking good right now, but hopefully we’ll be even better once everyone is in wrestling shape.”
