LODI – The Cougars held a six-point halftime lead and they would not relinquish their lead, fighting off a stubborn Lincoln High of Stockton squad 57-53 to land a spot in the Tokay Tournament consolation championship.
Dylan Alexander was a force to be reckoned with, leading all scorers with a 35 point performance. The freshman scored 14 in the first on his way to 24 first half points. Marlon Aumentadl was second to Alexander with nine points. Teammate Gurjant Leader has a solid outing, chipping in six points and leading a dominant Weston Ranch defensive effort. The Cougars’ consolation finale is scheduled for a 11:30 a.m. tipoff.
Kristen Piasecki led the Lancers with 17 points, while teammate Kelsey Emerson and Victoria Ramos both chipped in six. The Lancers will battle with Modesto High at 3 p.m. in the tournament’s fifth place game.
