Hurlbutt, Barrera lift Stockton over Modesto

 STOCKTON (AP) — Luis Barrera homered and had three hits, driving in three, and Dustin Hurlbutt allowed just two hits over five innings as the Stockton Ports beat the Modesto Nuts 6-0 on Tuesday.
Hurlbutt (1-0) picked up the win after he struck out one.
Stockton started the scoring in the second inning. After leading off the inning with a single, Barrera advanced to second on a groundout and then scored on an error.
The Ports later added runs in four additional innings to finish off the shutout.
Ljay Newsome (3-3) went five innings, allowing five runs and eight hits while striking out four in the California League game. Evan Manarino pitched four scoreless innings for his first save of the season.
The Nuts were blanked for the sixth time this season, while the Ports’ staff recorded their sixth shutout of the year.
