STOCKTON (AP) — Collin Theroux hit a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning, driving in Luke Persico with the go-ahead run, as the Stockton Ports topped the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes 1-0 on Tuesday.
Persico scored after he led off the inning with a single, advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt and then went to third on a wild pitch.
Brendan Butler (1-0) got the win with four innings of scoreless relief while Isaac Anderson (0-2) took the loss in the California League game. Miguel Romero retired the side in order for his second save of the season.
The Quakes were held off the scoreboard for the first time this season, while the Ports’ staff recorded their second shutout of the year.
