Thurman, Nuts ground JetHawks

LANCASTER (AP) — Nick Thurman hit a three-run home run in the sixth inning, leading the Modesto Nuts to an 8-7 win over the Lancaster JetHawks on Sunday.
The home run by Thurman gave the Nuts a 7-5 lead and capped a seven-run inning for Modesto. Earlier in the inning, Modesto scored on three more plays, including a two-run home run by Luis Liberato.
The Nuts tacked on another run in the eighth when Manny Pazos hit an RBI double, bringing home Gareth Morgan.
Lancaster saw its comeback attempt come up short after Jacob Bosiokovic hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning to cut the Modesto lead to 8-7.
Starter Reggie McClain (3-6) got the win while Ben Bowden (1-2) took the loss in relief in the California League game. Wyatt Mills recorded his seventh save of the season.
For the JetHawks, Carlos Herrera doubled twice and singled, scoring two runs. Brian Serven homered and singled, driving home two runs.
Despite the loss, Lancaster is 10-3 against Modesto this season.
