Cortez, Petra take first at MA tourney

APTOS – Cortez Martial Arts of Manteca represented the home town well at the Rumble in the Redwoods martial arts tournament in Aptos last Saturday.

Sensei Jason Cortez finished first overall in the Masters Middle Weight Division, and Oscar Petra took home gold in the Adult XSuper Heavy Weight Division.

Montana Marshall finished second in the Juniors Rooster Weight Division, while both Ryan Gibson (Adult Heavyweight) and Freddie Urias (Adult Super Heavyweight) took fourth in their respective divisions.

Cortez Martial Arts is an Affiliate Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy, and was one of many Gracie Academies to attend the event.

Cortez Martial Arts will next head to the Golden Gate Internationals in Santa Clara.

Gymnastics
Several members of the Impact Sports Center competed at the Las Vegas Cup recently and came out with some impressive results.

Taylor Harden finished eighth overall at Level 8, finishing seventh in the bars event with a score of 8.475.

Miranda Dumas took ninth overall at Level 8 with a third-place finish in the vault event (9.1).

In Level 7, Impact Sports took fifth as a team, while Alli Richards was sixth in the beam event (8.775) and Stephanee Davidson was 10th in the vault (9.025).

In the Team Gym event, Katie Cribb, Marissa Fabian, Julianna Galindo, Karissa Galindo, Maddie Larson, Taytum Batterton, Lacie Carpenter, Marissa Nino and Natalie Walter finished in third-place overall.
