Four Lancer Youth grapplers take first

Four grapplers representing the Lancer Youth Wrestling Club earned first-place medals in the King of the Mat tournament held at Golden Valley High in Merced Sunday.

Jaysen Reindel won his fourth straight title of the San Joaquin Wrestling Association folkstyle season in the 120-pound novice division.

Aysia Cortez triumphed in the 98-pound, first-year school boy bracket, Armando Torres claimed the 75-plus pound, first-year bantam division and Branden Rullan earned the 65-70, first-year novice championship.

Eleven Lancer Youth Club members ended up placing.

Runner-up finishers were: Nick Sims (112, first-year novice), Eli Willis (120, schoolboy), Trinidad Diaz (70, intermediate) and Tyler Diaz (55, bantam).

Dominic Valentine (65, first-year) came in third, while Jason Betlej (85, schoolboy) and Ethan Rullan (50-55, first-year intermediate) both took fourth place.

Up next is the Hilmar Tournament this Sunday.
