TRACY — Ripon battled back with four fifth-inning runs Monday, but that was not enough.
Tracy, which came out of the consolation bracket in the District 67 10U All-Star Tournament, forced a winner-take-all final with an 8-4 win at Legacy Fields.
Tracy avenged an 11-run loss to Ripon earlier in the tournament. The “if necessary” game is tonight at 6.
Jianna Bello led off the Ripon fifth with a walk followed with a single by Layla McNeil (2 for 2, run). Bello came around to score on an error off of McNeil’s single and McNeil ended up on third. Kinsley Triller reached on an error and plated McNeil, ending up on second. Hanna Garcia walked and stole second when Triller stole third and Triller came home on an error, sending Garcia to third.
Garcia scored on a fielder’s choice by Malina Dominguez to draw within 6-4. Adelyn McIntosh rapped a two-RBI single for Tracy in the bottom of the fifth for a pair of insurance runs.
Ripon had no problems getting on base after a 1-2-3 first inning, getting runners into scoring position in the second, third and fourth innings before finally breaking through in the fifth.
