STOCKTON – For over three decades, Mataga Buick GMC Cadillac has serviced the Central Valley’s new and used-car needs.

The family-owned and operated business is located in the Stockton Auto Mall, 3261 Auto Center Circle.

Owner Yosh Mataga started in Lodi as an Olds and Buick dealership, and later branched into Stockton. In that time, he’s had plenty of satisfied and returning customers.

“A lot of our business is repeat and referrals,” said general manager Kathryn Mataga-Shimane, who is also Yosh’s daughter. “We’ve had generations of families who, for years, continue to give us their business.”

Among the repeat customers was Darlene D. (last name was unavailable) of Stockton.

“My third car purchased from Mataga – (I’ve) always been happy with the courtesy and care given,” she said.

Mrs. Graham of Walnut Creek was another satisfied customer.

“Everyone there treated us with enthusiasm and professionalism. My husband and I both could not stop talking about it all the way home (while) driving our new Sierra – it’s a great truck,” she said.

Ditto that for Mr. and Mrs. Knickerbocker of Linden.

“Sales / financial / service staff were all very helpful and brought many common sense issues to play in the sale of the Acadia,” they wrote.

David and Kelly of Rough and Ready thanked Mataga for making the “unpleasant part” of buying a vehicle into a pleasant experience.

“I don’t know anyone who enjoys sitting in a dealership for hours filling out miles of paper work and then having to go over every detail again and again. You were so efficient and professional,” the couple wrote.

Mataga, which has been in the Auto Mall since in the early 1990s, is also equipped with a full parts and service department with factory-certified technicians to handle maintenance and smog.

In addition, the Stockton dealership operates with 40 employees. Of that, many are known to their customers on a first-name basis.
