TRACY – The 2013 Versa subcompact might be the right car for the times.
That’s with gas prices hovering near $5 per gallon, says Francisco Mendoza of internet sales at Tracy Nissan, 3195 Naglee Road.
He showed off the SV sedan model equipped with the 60/40-split rear seat, cloth door trim, chromed interior door handle / painted shift knob, and driver’s side armrest.
But where it counts, the Versa gets improved gas mileage from that of the previous year. Try 35 miles per gallon – on the average – including 40 mpg highway and 31 mpg city.
Part of the reason for that is the 1.6-liter double overhead camshaft, 16-valve, four-cylinder engine with Nissan’s Xtronic continuously variable transmission.
The SV model has front and rear stabilizer bars, power-assisted front disc / rear drum brakes, and 15-inch steel wheels with full wheel covers.
Safety features include driver and front passenger, side-impact, and curtain airbags; lower anchor and tethers for children latch; anti-lock brakes; traction control system; vehicle dynamic control; and tire pressure monitoring system.
Inside this subcompact is a six-way adjustable driver’s seat, AM/FM/CD/Aux-in audio system with four speakers, power door locks with auto-locking feature, cruise control, and remote trunk release.
On the outside, the Versa sports a chrome front grille and door handles, chrome multi-reflector halogen headlights, and rear spoiler with the LED high mount stop light.
This Nissan also comes in the 1.6 S and 1.6 SL trims.
