If you’re looking for a country spread that is out of the future path of urban development yet within 10 minutes of amenities by a quick, smooth drive you may find it some seven miles south of Manteca.

Jessie Barrett of PMZ Real Estate (815-0928) is representing the owner/builder of two custom homes with 14.06 acres – that includes 12 acres of almonds leased to a farmer – at 26651 S. Airport Way for $1,999,000.

It is where Airport Way makes its first S-curve heading toward the Stanislaus River at the intersection with Airport Court. There is a dairy to the south and one to the north with endless views of row crops, the river tree line and Mt. Diablo along with the Costal Ranges.

The homes – just recently completed – are on opposite ends of the property. The larger house has a majestic two-story floor plan. It seems taller due to high ceilings and octagon-style designs that give it a grand feel – with 4,535 square feet. The second house is on one-floor with 3,977 square feet.

Both have unique designs that maximize floor space.

The larger house
The larger of the two homes offers four bedrooms and four baths in a floor plan that is stately even in the secondary bedrooms that include a pair on the first floor that are in a Jack-n-Jill layout complete with bathroom featuring a smaller tub for increased child safety. The home is situated to give a commanding view of the sunset as well as Mt. Diablo.

The grand entrance with its sweeping staircase is just the beginning. The tiled entry leads to the step down area of the formal living room with two-story high windows that give a commanding view of the almond orchard – complete with the spring burst of pink blossoms – and the sunrise. Off to one side an open hallway leads past a wet bar and to the main master suite. There are plenty of windows to give the grand-sized suite an elegant feel that’s perfect for a large four-poster bed. The master suite bathroom is the size of most secondary bedrooms. There is also a large walk-in closet as well.

The family/dining kitchen area also has two-story high ceilings with tall windows facing the south and the east to give a view of the orchard and storm systems as they move into the area. There is a large island counter that is large enough to seat at least eight. As in other key rooms, the dining area is wired for a chandelier and plays on the design that gives you a hint of an octagon.

There is even a small stove put in place in the wall near the wall-mounted TV to keep little ones warm while watching Saturday morning cartoons.

There is also a sitting room or a formal dining room that has a more traditional ceiling height.

The patio is made all the more impressive by two-story pillars that accent the banks of stacked sets of windows that also soar two stories. You step right off the enormous covered patio into the orchard.

The home is situated in such a manner that a major garden with various features can be put in place. Access to driveways is from both Airport Way and Airport Court.

The home also has a massive three-car garage.

The second house
The second house is one-story with 3,977 square feet. The front door is massive complete with rounded top and corresponding transom and side glass.

The tiled entry leads to an open hall way. Off to one side is the formal front room while immediately ahead is the tiled formal dining room with a view of the orchard.

The family room has a large bar and is deep enough for any kind of family gathering. The kitchen is tucked away from the family room.

There is also a large covered patio that has been purposely designed to be open to the north to take advantage of cooling Delta breezes in the summer and to avoid direct sunlight as well as offer complete protection from storm systems that come out of the south.

It has an extremely large master suite that is shaped to allow a sitting room or work area with a desk on one end. The master bathroom has his and her sinks and vanities split on opposite sides with a Jacuzzi tub tucked between two walk-in closets. The focal point is a huge shower that opens up to the bathroom.

There is a large three-car garage that is actually deep enough to park six vehicles.
