For those looking to celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day without having to leave the comfort of their home, Neto’s Catering is the place to go with their annual drive thru event, where customers can pay just $12 for the perfect St. Patrick’s Day meal of corned beef and cabbage, potatoes, and carrots.
“Several of the people that have not cared for corned beef have just had a bad experience,” said owner Fred Neto, “but when they have ours, they are really impressed with it.”
“I hate to brag, but if there’s somebody that makes a better corned beef, I would like to know,” continued Neto.
According to Neto, the catering service has provided these St. Patrick’s Day meals since the business was considered a restaurant destination, or for approximately ten years. Yet when the restaurant closed down, they opted to carry on the tradition in the form of a drive thru.
“Now, people will order individual meals or for groups,” said Neto. “Sometimes people will order as many as 15 to 20 meals and just have guests at their own house.”
Neto reported that the catering business is relatively flexible to customer needs when it comes to accommodating with extra potatoes or cabbage. However, he is sure everyone who enters the drive thru will leave with a satisfactory St. Patrick’s Day meal.
“Our corned beef is more flavorful, and definitely more tender,” said Neto. “It’s just the way we season it that seems to be different from everybody else. Everybody has a different way of doing it, but for whatever reason ours has been popular with our guests.”
“Every year, we continue to get larger and larger,” he added.
Last year, Neto estimated that the catering service sold approximately 300 meals during the holiday, and he does not expect this year to be any different.
“You can buy cheaper grades of corned beef, but we buy the best you can get,” said Neto. “We spend money and it might not be the cheapest in town, but I guarantee you will get what you pay for. We want to continue to provide quality over quantity.”
