STOCKTON – Jose’s Western Wear has been around for about 40 years.
The business at 678 N. Wilson Way featuring high-end western wear and apparel will soon be closing its doors, the owner announced.
For those who shopped at Jose’s Western Wear, they raved about the quality boots and hats to mark that special occasion.
The Broken Arrow Western Store at 9183 Copperopolis Road going towards Linden also closed, joining the long line of family businesses to shut down their operation.
Online shopping has hurt the likes of the Broken Arrow, Jose’s and other western wear businesses.
In order to make it a go, El Charrito De Oro has added sporting goods and apparel as related to the sport of soccer.
“(Soccer Heat) was my wife’s idea,” said Javier, who runs the place at 4123 E. Main St. with his father.
He disagrees that online has hurt businesses catering to western wear.
“It’s the economy,” Javier said. “It’s not that good (in this area).”
Located in east Stockton, El Charrito has been in business for over 10 years, according to the son. His merchandise includes a large variety of hats for work or just to wear around town coupled with good quality boots, shirts, and belts.
Soccer Heat makes up the other part of the business, with replica and original jerseys and other equipment necessary for the sport.
The only other listed western wear in the area is in Lodi.
Hassan’s Joe Clothing & Western Wear at 100 N. Sacramento St., like El Charrito, is more than just western clothing and apparel.
By the way, the cowboy hats, western shirts and boots are of good quality and the prices here are reflective of that. The selections are for folks of all sizes.
Hassan’s Joe has jeans and work shirts, including brand names such as Levi’s, Wrangler, Carhartt, Dickie’s and Ben Davis.
The finest quality in work clothes along with great customer service can be had at this longtime downtown business.
