There’s plenty to do this holiday season in Manteca, Ripon, and Lathrop.

CHRISTMAS TO REMEMBER BALLET

The non-profit SONdance is presenting its annual “A Christmas to Remember” program on Friday, Dec. 7, and Saturday, Dec. 8.

The event, which is open to the public, will be held at the Performing Arts Center, 435 N. Maple Ave., in Ripon. Both performances will begin at 7 p.m. Advance tickets are $8 each; $8 at the door.

The “delightful, festive and inspiring (Christmas) presentation” which offers an “enjoyable family experience,” utilizes a combination of “art of dance” along with “inspired narrative that encourages (everyone) to remember and celebrate the true meaning of this joyful time of year.”

SONdance programs “have been described as one of the best-kept secrets in the Central Valley,” said SONdance Ministries Director Stephen Lyon.

Established in 1989, SONdance is under the direction of founder and artistic director Jolynda Lyon. The program “offers quality training in a Christian environment” with studios located at 612 Commerce Court in Manteca’s Spreckels Park, just south of Yosemite Avenue behind Home Depot.

Classes offered include classical ballet, modern, lyrical, contemporary Christian “jazz” and other styles of worship dance. The classes are open to students from age 3 to adults, ranging from beginning to advanced levels.

SONdance also has “ministry teams” that are available to perform at area schools, churches, festivals, fairs and conference.
