MAPS presents Halloween Chemistry at MJC

MODESTO  –The Modesto Area Partners in Science (MAPS) will offer two science presentations on Friday, Oct. 26, at Modesto Junior College’s East Campus on College Ave.

The first is a family event titled “Halloween Chemistry” from 4 to 5 p.m. in the Science building, room 115.  Dr. Al Chemist (Steve Murov) will present a series of fascinating experiments (featuring the foaming pumpkin and the fickle pickle) intended to demonstrate the importance and excitement of chemistry. Admission is free, but limited to 75 (first come, first served). The program is intended for all ages.

The second event “Solar Wind and the Sunspot Cycle” will take place from 7:30 to 8:45 p.m. in Forum 110. Astro-geophysicist Dr. David J. Simons will discuss solar activity and its relationship to the solar wind and climate change. Admission is free and is intended for people over 12 years of age.
