Rookies Pub & Grill hosts Nashville country recording artist Buck Ford

A taste of Nashville is coming to Manteca tonight – by way of Vacaville.

The Buck Ford Pure Country Band will turn Rookies Pub and Grill into a floor-shaking Tennessee honky tonk with its traditional country sound, classic play list and original music.

“They do a lot of two step, a lot of line dancing and waltzes,” said Rookies Entertainment Director Chris Creek. “They’re great for country dancing.”

The Buck Ford Pure Country Band takes its cues from its namesake, lead vocalist Buck Ford, one of Nashville’s next in line.

Ford hails from Vacaville, but his soul and sound draw their strength from the Country Music Capital of the World.

Ford, who recently recorded his first CD “Guitar and Gasoline,” has picked a winning formula. He musical influences include George Strait, Merle Haggard, George Jones and Keith Whitley. Strait, Haggard and Jones are in the Country Music Hall of Fame.

The evening will begin with line dancing lessons for all ages with Lockeford’s Pat Mitchell at 7 o’clock. The Buck Ford Pure Country Band will follow at 9 p.m.

At that time, only those 21 and older are permitted inside the bar.
