Emma Lockwood, the 10-year-old Sequoia Elementary School fifth grader who has been fighting bone cancer, was reported to be doing well Wednesday afternoon.
Her dad Sean, in providing the update, noted it was despite the fact she is currently undergoing another six-day chemotherapy session at Kaiser Hospital’s Children center in Oakland.
Lockwood and his wife are pleased with her present condition. They noted she is scheduled to have CT and MRI scans before she comes home, probably this weekend, to check on her progress.
The Gofundme account has raised just over $11,000 to help the Lockwood family. They say they are very appreciative of the community response.
He said that one Manteca woman, who read the account of Emma’s condition in the Bulletin, bought her a tablet so she could play games and connect with her school friends when she has so much time on her hands at home and when in the hospital.
When Emma’s mother Michelle is with her at Kaiser in Oakland her dad and grandmother,  Nancy Peters,  share the house duties and take care of the other Lockwood children.
Emma has been homeschooled most of the year with her mother accepting the role of her teacher and constant companion.
