A woman with a DUI arrest warrant led a Ripon Police officer up Highway 99 to Arch Road in a high-speed chase following a traffic stop at the Colony Road freeway on ramp shortly after 1 a.m. Thursday.

Patrolman Eric Boger had pulled over a 1999 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck for alleged registration and mechanical violations. The driver, though, decided to flee from the officer driving north on Highway 99 at speeds reaching 100 miles per hour.

Shelly Corinne Davis, 48, of Sacramento was arrested near Arch Road – north of Stockton Airport – when her car with deflated tires coasted to a stop. A Highway Patrol officer had placed a spike strip across the freeway lanes just north of French Camp Road.

It took the distance between French Camp Road and Arch Road for the vehicle’s tires to lose enough air to cause it to stop for pursuing officers.

Davis was arrested on outstanding DUI warrant for her arrest and for driving with a suspended license as well as evading a pursuing police officer. She had her pet Golden Retriever in the pickup with her. Officers put the dog in protective custody and it is being housed in the Ripon animal control shelter.

Ripon Police dispatcher Celeste Wilson had notified the California Highway Patrol that the pursuit was in progress and reported the dangerous speeds involved in the chase that was approaching Manteca and headed for Stockton.

The excellent cooperation between Ripon police, the Sheriff’s Department and the Highway Patrol was praised by Ripon’s public information officer, Sgt. Steve Merchant.
