27th Main Street Day set for Oct. 15

RIPON - The Ripon Chamber of Commerce will present the 27th Annual Main Street Day & Car Show on Saturday, Oct, 15, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This old-fashioned street fair promises to be bigger and better than ever and will be held on in Historic Downtown Ripon.

Ripon Chamber Executive Director Dorothy Booth noted the setting with its quaint buildings and stores exudes a quiet atmosphere reminiscent of a simpler time.

“The perfect place for the ninth year addition to the event…truly classy classic cars show,” Booth said.

The Car Show will be held at the same location starting at Stockton Avenue and Main Street, continuing east on Main Street to the underpass.

Ripon Community & Youth Commission is having their 5th Annual Health Faire this year in conjunction with Main Street Day.  They will be located in the parking lot of the Ripon Athletic Club located at 318 West Main St.

The Fire Explorers are cooking up a breakfast with all the trimmings on Saturday, Oct. 15.  The breakfast will be held at the Fire Station located at 142 S. Stockton Ave. from 6:30 to 10 a.m.  Tickets prices are: adults, $7.50; 7-12 years of age, $5.50; and children 6 and under are free. Tickets are available at the Ripon Fire Station, 142 So. Stockton Ave. and the Ripon Chamber office, 929 W. Main Street.

All the proceeds from the breakfast go to the Explorers Scholarships for the Fire Explorers program. Come out and enjoy a fabulous breakfast, this event is always a tummy pleaser.

The Ripon Memorial Library will be having their book sale in their parking lot from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. located at 333 West Main Street.

The Ripon Historical Society Museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  The Historical Society Museum moved from Mavis Stouffer Park into their new building at 430 West Main Street, downtown Ripon.

Vendors will be selling arts and crafts, jewelry, food and a host of other items to round out the shopping fun.
