Ripon Police arrested four suspects Tuesday night who allegedly robbed the Walgreens Pharmacy on Main Street of some $10,000 worth of medications.
With the help of a citizen, the four were arrested within four minutes after leaving the crime scene and abandoning their vehicle on Kiwi Court several blocks to the east of the store.  The resident called 911 as he followed the suspects giving the Ripon dispatcher constant updates on their location which she relayed to officers. The suspects ran from their vehicle as Police Chief Ed Ormonde arrived on the scene with other officers. A foot pursuit ensued as the suspects ran through yards and jumped over back fences.  Sgt. Steve Meece located another suspect as he attempted to clear a fence.
The four suspects were taken into custody without incident. The Hydrocodone and Promethazine that were taken from the store were recovered in the suspect’s vehicle.  Marijuana was also found in the suspects’ vehicle and one of the four was found with cocaine in his possession.
Maurice Anthony De Mille Bryant, 24, of Sacramento, was transported to San Joaquin County Jail in French Camp and charged with robbery, conspiracy, possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest.
Justin Wayne Culpepper, 25, of Rancho Cordova, was also charged with robbery, conspiracy and resisting arrest. Theo Lavern Simmons, 18, of Sacramento was booked on similar charges as was a 17-year-old Sacramento teen that was transported to juvenile hall.
Lt. Steve Merchant added that there were a number of Riponites on the street pointing out the direction of travel of the four before police caught up with them.
The Ripon Police Department offered its appreciation to the citizens who assisted police in capturing the suspects so quickly.
