A crew from Ross F. Carroll Inc. of Oakdale has started work on the $401,355 project to construct a nine-lane synthetic track surface at Sierra High’s Daniel Teicheira Memorial Stadium. None of the money to do the work is coming from Manteca Unified School District’s general fund. Instead a combination of grants and donations are being used. The work is expected to be completed by November. The facility at Sierra has served as host to the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life, Manteca Convention & Visitors Bureau’s Manteca Senior Games, and the MUST track and field events. Next up could be the Tom Moore Relays from Modesto and activities from the Manteca Parks and Recreation Department.
