A carnival this Wednesday through Sunday adjacent to McDonald’s on East Yosemite Avenue will raise funds to offset the cost of Manteca’s three-day Memorial Day celebration.
The Place of Refuge is organizing the bulk of the events and relies on donations to help cover its costs as there are no charges for being able to enjoy things such as The Mile High Band and aerial fireworks.
The church is asking the council to waive the business license for the five-day carnival that typically costs $875.
