LATHROP – A Lathrop family coming home the weekend after Thanksgiving discovered all the gifts under the Christmas tree and other irreplaceable mementoes gone.

“The TV was gone. The Christmas gifts that we just bought on Black Friday after Thanksgiving were gone,” said Rosalinda Valencia.

She found the home burglarized when she came home from work just before 5 p.m. that Saturday.

The thieves even took with them some of the receipts for some of the purchased items, Valencia said.

Also stolen were the family’s Dell computer and some jewelry.

The burglars got inside the home by getting into the back yard and breaking into the daughter’s bedroom window. Fortunately, said Valencia, the children were with her ex-husband in Manteca that weekend. She said she first noticed that something was wrong when she came home and found the garage door open, which should have been locked.

Valencia’s home was apparently not the only one broken into in recent days. She said four houses in her immediate neighborhood also got robbed.

Dan Mac Neilage, owner of Big Dan’s Neighborhood Diner near City Hall and the Target shopping center, also reported that his restaurant was recently robbed.

On Monday, the Boys and Girls Club donation jar at the Circle K Store on Louise Avenue and Cambridge Drive was stolen in the early morning. The container reportedly had about $80 inside. Police are still investigating the case. The two suspects were reportedly caught in the store’s video camera, with one of the men wearing a red hat.
