Manteca Unified high school students and their parents now have expanded choices.

Be.tech is a free, public school chartered by Manteca Unified and designed for 10th, 11th and 12th grade students. Students in grades 10-12th who prefer to work at their own pace independently instead of in a traditional classroom setting can now do so.

Tenth grade students who want to explore career options in a unique setting can do that as well.  Eleventh and twelfth grade students who want to begin their career while finishing their high school diploma can do so through be.tech.

Be.tech offers six high school career academies.  Students have the opportunity to focus on a chosen career pathway in a small school, professional setting while completing their high school diploma.  They learn career readiness skills and technical skills and earn certificates recognized by the business community. Students visit industry partner job sites and interact with industry experts in their career pathway. The career pathways are Culinary Arts, Hospitality, First Responders, Industrial Arts, Game Programing and Design and Graphic Digital Media Arts.  The culinary arts academy, first responders’ academy and industrial arts academy are housed on the Manteca Unified District campus located at 2271 W. Louise Ave.  The hospitality academy will be located on the New Vision High School campus while the game design academy will be housed at Lathrop High and the digital media academy will be located on the Sierra High School campus.

Student tour day

High school students in grades 9-11 wishing to learn more about the academies are invited to tour the district campus on Monday, May 11, from 9 to 11:30 a.m.  Students will have the opportunity to interact with the current staff and students and ask questions at an informational meeting.  Bus transportation will be provided from all local high schools but seating is limited so interested students will want to reserve their seat now. Reservations can be made by calling 858.7460. The deadline for reservations is today.

A parent informational meeting and school tour is also planned for Monday, May 11,  in the evening from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the district campus located at 2271 W. Louise Ave..

Be.tech enrollment is open to all students who live in San Joaquin County or adjacent counties.  All applications will be considered.  The current enrollment period will continue through May.  A third enrollment period will open and continue through July.  Academies, however, are limited in size and those enrolling late may be placed on a waiting list.
