The annual Planet Party Day held the Manteca Unified School District office grounds is now in its sixth year, thanks to the many sponsors that have made this educational event a success that it is today.
Once again, sponsors are being sought to make this event another successful educational experience for the nearly 2,000 sixth graders in the district who will be participating.
This year, the event, whose aim is to enhance students’ awareness and stewardship of their environment, is being held on Thursday, April 30, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
They will be learning plenty of lessons on how to become responsible and knowledgeable stewards of the future by visiting the array of exhibits, having dialogue with experts in each field of study, and expand the knowledge that they have gained during the school year. In addition to the feature displays, there will be demonstrations and interactive exhibit highlighting clean air, conservation and agriculture, energy, green innovations, water, and recycling.
In line with the purpose of the event, Planet Party Day has gone paperless. The entire event is organized through the web-based application, Guidebook. Students, teachers, presenters, sponsors, and volunteers can all download the MUSD Planet Party Guidebook to receive schedules, event map, and post to social media like Facebook and Twitter. In like manner, participants can also submit feedbacks on their experience this event.
Sponsors are being sought to make this another successful year for Planet Day Party. The following sponsorship levels are available: Title sponsor — $2,500; platinum sponsor — $1,000; gold sponsor — $500; and, silver sponsor — $250.
Presenters will give 12-minute presentations to groups of 35 students throughout the day, inspiring students to want to be better stewards of our environment. Previous years’ presenters and sponsors include the South San Joaquin Irrigation District (SSJID), PG&E, Indoor Environmental Services (IES), Simplot, and IEC.
The annual Planet Party Day is presented by Manteca Unified’s Leadership on Green Initiatives Committee (LOGIC).
