John Depue is describing the FairTax reform at tonight’s meeting of the Manteca Patriots.

The meeting is from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at Chez Shari (at the Manteca Golf Course) in the 200 b lock of North Union Road.  The meeting is free and open to the public.

Depue will provide his perspective on why the single most important thing Congress can do for America is to pass the FairTax legislation (H.R. 25: Rob Woodall, GA and S. 122 - Saxby Chambliss, GA). The FairTax would overhaul the federal tax code by replacing all existing income and payroll taxes with a one-time consumption tax on new goods and services at the point of purchase.

The FairTax will:

• Eliminate the IRS

• Eliminate nine federal income based taxes

• Completely un-tax the poor on spending up to the poverty level

• Fully fund Medicare and Social Security

• Get everyone paying their share of taxes

Depue has been a FairTax advocate for over five years is his role as volunteer District Director for California Congressional District 4 (Tom McClintock). After a 31-year career with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, he retired in 2008, having served as Correctional Officer at San Quentin in 1974 and Chief Deputy Warden at the time of his retirement.
