Four Manteca City Council hopefuls as well as one mayoral candidate have started circulating nomination papers.

Incumbents Vince Hernandez and John Harris along with challengers Samuel Anderson and Richard Behling have picked up the candidacy papers for the Nov. 2 election. They must obtain the necessary signatures of City of Manteca registered voters by Aug. 6. There are two seats up for grab.

Mayor Willie Weatherford has picked up his candidacy papers while challengers City Councilwoman Debby Moorhead and retired city planner Ben Cantu have made appointments today with City Clerk Joann Tilton to get the documents they need to make their run for mayor office.

Former mayor Carlon Perry’s campaign treasurer was in contact this week with Tilton regarding information the state requires for campaign committees. Perry has yet to pick up papers.
