Pallets of food donations, with items like coffee, candy, and dried oats from local grocery stores await distribution to food pantries from the Second Harvest storage facility on Thursday. Manteca-based Second Harvest of the Greater Valley helps supply nearly 100 community food banks throughout the Northern San Joaquin Valley (VIVIENNE AGUILAR / CV Journalism Collaborative).

Aaron Judge, Captain of the New York Yankees and Founder of the Aaron Judge ALL RISE Foundation, is providing a $3,000 grant to the Manteca-based Second Harvest of the Greater Valley.

“These Mini-Grant recipients share our commitment to helping young people lead healthy, meaningful lives and reach their full potential,” Judge said.

“Through education, community involvement and opportunities for personal growth, they're making a real difference. I'm proud that ALL RISE can play a part in supporting their efforts.
Judge graduated from Linden High 20 miles to the northeast of Manteca.

The food bank was one of a number of grant recipients announced this week.

The grant is for the Second Harvest of the Greater Valley's Fresh Food 4 Kids (FF4K) program.

The program helps address food insecurity by providing nutritious food to students and families at 15 school sites throughout Stockton.

Each month, SHGV delivers four to six pallets of food, including fresh produce, meats, dairy, and shelf-stable staples to underserved neighborhood schools, where staff and volunteers distribute groceries to students and their families through walk-up and drive-thru formats.

The program also stocks school pantries, giving students access to snacks, lunches and essential food items during the school day.

]The ALL RISE Mini-Grant will help purchase approximately 20,000 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables for distribution to Stockton families, ensuring they have access to the nutritious food they need to learn, grow and thrive.
