Body found in SJ River near Turtle Beach
crime

The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the origins of a body found near the shore of the Turtle Beach Campground in Manteca on Wednesday morning.

According to the agency, a local fisherman was boating in the area when he came across the body of an adult male along the banks of the San Joaquin River. When deputies arrived and discovered the body, they had reason to believe that the death was suspicious.

The Turtle Beach resort is off Williamson Road. West Woodward Avenue becomes Williamson Road after making two 90-degree turns west of the main entrance to the gated Oakwood Shores community built where Manteca Waterslides once stood.

Detectives were on scene Wednesday afternoon investigating the scene. Authorities said that they would update the public with additional information when it becomes available.

Anybody with information that could be beneficial to the investigation is encouraged to contact the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office at 209.468.4400 and selection Option 1. Those who leave information are being asked to reference Case No. 22-8138.
